We use official IRD tax rates, ACC levy rates, and KiwiSaver rules current at the time of publication. Tax rates are sourced from Inland Revenue (ird.govt.nz). ACC rates are sourced from ACC. KiwiSaver rules are sourced from IRD and the KiwiSaver Act 2006. We update these when rates change, but there may be a delay between a rate change and our update.
Calculator results are estimates. Annual figures are calculated using standard formulas; per-period amounts (weekly, fortnightly, monthly) may differ from your payslip due to rounding differences between our formula-based approach and the PAYE table-based approach used by most payroll software.

Our guides and comparisons are based on publicly available information from sources including IRD, ACC, Kainga Ora, KiwiSaver providers, banks, and other financial institutions. We cite our sources and update content periodically.
